Calf implants increase the size and shape of the calf muscles. Most patients desire this procedure for the purpose of anatomical balance, while others opt for augmentation to correct deformities resulting from injuries or nerve diseases that result in muscle deterioration.

Length
About 45 minutes to 1 hour per calf.
Side Effects
Temporary swelling, bruising, and tightness of the skin.

Back to work: about 2 weeks.

Bleeding, infection, nerve and or muscle damage, asymmetry, and slippage.
Results
Long-lasting: circulatory problems that come with age may eventually cause the
removal of implants.
Technology
An incision is made below the crease behind the knee, and solid, silicone implants are inserted in pockets overlying the gastrocnemius muscles, then closed with sutures (stitches). Depending on a patient’s desired effect, the implants may be one or two to each leg.
