Recently, Dr. Brothers offered several insights on the Le Mystere No. 9 collection:

Q: Why do women with augmented breasts need a unique bra design?

A: To start, the conical cup of the traditional bra does not match the spherical shape of the augmented breast. In a well-made bra, the band and the center connector should provide most of the support, not the straps. The center connector of most bras does not offer proper support for the breasts’ new shape.

Q: How did your collaboration with Le Mystere come about?

A: I started working on the concept of a bra for women with augmented breasts about 10 years ago. I looked for a manufacturer that had a quality product, a good reputation, and was fashion-forward. Through one of my patients, I came across a bra from Le Mystere, and it was very pretty and well-made. I approached them about the idea, and they loved it.

Q: What factors went into the consideration of the No. 9 designs?

A: In talking to my patients, I heard over and over again that they couldn’t find a fit that was comfortable. This is because most bras are designed for natural breasts, which are more oval-shaped. When we designed these, we made sure that where the underwire is, it becomes a true semi-circle, for rounder augmented breasts. Also, women with breast augmentation tend to have wider cleavage due to the change in the inframammary fold, so we accommodated that.

Dr. Brothers adds that the desire to find bras that complement various styles of clothing inspired the five styles of the collection. “After breast augmentation, women will go out and purchase five to seven new bras on average. So, we needed to help them replenish their entire wardrobe.” With that in mind, the “Scarlet” and “Lolita” bras of the Le Mystere No. 9 collection include:
