Face Lift Risks and Side Effects

With any surgical procedure, there are risks and side effects. This includes face lift surgery. Typically, a doctor will not operate on a patient if he/she feels that the patient is susceptible to face lift complications; however, some of the potential problems associated with facelift surgery, include:

  • Bleeding
  • Bruising
  • Infection
  • Excessive scarring
  • Asymmetry or change in hairline
  • Injury to facial nerves (temporarily or permanent)

To minimize the chances of problems arising, it is important that you follow the plastic surgeon's instructions carefully. During an appointment with your doctor, it is highly recommended that you disclose any information that you feel may hinder the success of your surgery.

Equally important is the physician you select to perform your facelift. If you do not feel confident in the doctor's abilities, keep searching until you find a surgeon who may be better suited for your facelift surgery. Doctor negligence should not be one of your concerns as you plan for your surgery.
