Breast Reduction

("Reduction Mammaplasty")

Am I an Ideal Breast Reduction Candidate?

Most patients know if they are in need of breast reduction surgery. There are a number of physical and emotional discomforts associated with overly large breasts. Some of those pains include the following:

  • Neck, shoulder, and/or back pain
  • Chronic headaches
  • Back and neck deformities
  • Shoulder indentations
  • Breathing problems
  • Skin irritation
  • Embarrassment with their bodies

If you are uncomfortable on a regular basis, due to one more of the above listed reasons, you should consult with a breast reduction specialist. During a consultation, the plastic surgeon will not only examine your body, but he/she will also determine if you are mentally and emotionally prepared for this procedure.

In addition to the aforementioned physical characteristics, an ideal candidate is also someone who is physically and psychologically healthy, aware of the risks and complications associated with this surgery, and has realistic goals and expectations. It is also important that a patient be at least 18 years of age, and not pregnant or breastfeeding.
