Breast Augmentation Risks and Side Effects
As with all surgical procedures, there are certain risks and complications associated with breast augmentation. Some of the most notable include:
- Reaction to anesthesia
- Blood clots
- Visible scarring
- Infection
- Capsular contracture (scar tissue hardening around the implants)
- A lack, or complete loss, of nipple and/or breast sensitivity
- Breast implant leakage or rupture
- Rippling (indentations on the breast cause by breast implant movement)
- Interference with mammograms
To learn if you are at susceptible to any of the above complications, be sure to consult with a knowledgeable plastic surgeon trained to perform breast enhancements. During this meeting, be sure to ask the breast augmentation surgeon if you are likely to experience these surgical risks/side effects.
An easy way to minimize your chances of experiencing problems due to breast augmentation surgery is to select a qualified plastic surgeon. The more training and experience that a physician has, the lower the chances may be for having adverse reactions to breast implant surgery.
Be sure that you are confident in your doctor's skills before proceeding with breast enlargement surgery. Surgeon error or negligence may result in complications as well.
